Support Village Contra
Dear Friends of Village Contra,
We’ve had some wonderful times at Village Contra dances during 2016. Every month it is such a joy to see you again, catch up and dance together.
For nearly two decades, Village Contra has been holding gender role-free contra dances with live music at The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in Manhattan. The Center is an invaluable safe space where people of all gender identifications and orientations can dance together and socialize in an alcohol-free, judgment-free environment.
We are asking for your help to keep our dances available to you, your friends, and the world of potential contra dancers out there. As you can guess, booking the best callers and musicians for our dances and renting a comfortable dance space is expensive. Admission alone does not cover all our expenses.
In 2016 we’ve done much more that host monthly dances, including introducing a new, colorful logo, selling and distributing t-shirts, marching and dancing in the NYC LGBT Pride March, expanding our new sound system (including a lockable storage cabinet) and much more! We hope to continue these endeavors and more in 2017, and we hope that you’ll be there to join us.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation (details below). And, of course, please encourage your friends to join you at Village Contra! Word-of-mouth is the best marketing. We have room for more dancers in our lovely air-conditioned space—sharing the Facebook events or email dance reminders is also a great way to spread the word.
Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated. You already make our dance events special; you can keep them going strong. Can we count on you?
Your friends at Village Contra
